Groovy Go-To Games #2 - Mind Meld

Another favorite that has popped up around dinner tables and campfires ever since we learned it years ago. This one is great for groups but also super fun with only 2 people. It’s nice to be able to look in each other's eyes for it, but can be played on car rides too.

Goal: For two people to organically come up with the same word at the same time.

How to play: On the first turn, two people say the first word that comes to their minds (to say the words simultaneously, count “1, 2, 3, *word!*”.) For all the next turns, they try to say the same word, inspired by the two words said in the turn before. If you’re playing with more than two people, rotate through everyone in one direction by having one person from the previous pair rotate to the next person, and so on.

Usual rules: no repeating any words, answers should be single words, not phrases.

Example:

“1...2...3...

Player 1: “play”

Player 2: “sun”

Then player 2 looks at player 3, they quickly think about those two words...play & sun...what comes to mind?...

“Ok...1...2...3…

Player 2: ”beach”

Player 3: ”water”

Player 3 looks to the next player...beach & water...hmmmm….

“Ok….1....2...3…

Player 3: “ocean”

Player 4: “ocean”

“Woohoo! Mind Meld!”

Mind Melding in just three guesses is not the norm! It can often take many, many turns before you meld minds! Try to let go of the influence of all previous pairs (except the last one), so you’re only thinking about the last two words said.

Wishing you fun with this one!
